UEF Round Table Meeting in Brussels 10th March 2020

10 - 10 March 2020

UEF Round Table Meeting in Brussels 10th March 2020

UEF  organized its new Round Table Meeting in the European Forestry House in Brussels, on 10 March 2020.

UEF is organizing a Round Table Meetings every year in Brussels since more than 25 years.

This new one was organized  in cooperation and partnership with EUSTAFOR – European State Forest Association and FECOF - European Federation of Forest-Owning Communities.

The main stakeholders in forestry were expected to attend this meeting about this really interesting topic:

”Social perception of forests and image of foresters”

While the forest policy discussions on European level are almost exclusively focused on issues related to climate change, the bioeconomy and the protection of forests and forest biodiversity, the way sustainable forest management is perceived by society seems to be of increasing importance.

A keynote presentation by Christine Farcy,  was planed to open the discussions.

Christine Farcy, Professor in the University of Louvain (Begium), Chair of the European Forestry Commission of FAO and Vice-Chair of the Board of the European Forest Institute has dealt with the perceptions, uses and the importance of forests.

Following the informal discussions a networking lunch had to be offered.

UEF is actively engaged in the process to understand better the perception of forests and foresters by European citizens, all over Europe.

Unfortunaltely, due to the coronavirus crisis, our meeting was cancelled and postponed.
