The Role of Forests and Forestry Sector in the future EU Bioeconomy

On 12th of June 2025 a round table meeting dedicated to the Role of Forests and Forestry Sector in the future EU Bioeconomy took place at the European Forestry House in Brussels.

The meeting was jointly organized by the Union of European Foresters, CEPF, EUSTAFOR and FECOF.

The meeting was opened and participants were welcomed by the UEF President – Tomasz Markiewicz who underlined the importance of Forests and forestry sector for the development of the Bioeconomy.

Moderator of the RTM was Ms. Fanny-Pomme Langue, CEPF

Presentations were made by Anna Papagrigoraki – Sustainability Director, SEPI, who spoke about the Point of view of the Confederations of European Paper Industry; Nestor Domuschiev PhD – representative of the Executive Forest Agency in Bulgaria presented the Knowledge transfer, skills and role of forests for developing the bioeconomy in EU Countries and the Michael Losch presented the Commission’s ongoing work on the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy.

The presentations were followed by an opened discussions where participants were able to state their point of views and to elaborate on the topic.

The conclusion remarks were made by Mr. Piotr Borkowski Executive Director of EUSTAFOR.

Nearly 40 participants, representatives of the all Forest Stakeholders on European Union level took place in the meeting.
