A Swedish forest trip to Poland

Sunday, September 27 , 2015 6427

At the beginning of September 2015, a group of Swedish foresters came to Poland to see how the Polish forestry management works. The whole trip was organized by our Polish member – SITLID.

The participants were accommodated in the neighborhood of the one of the biggest Polish cities – PoznaƄ, in the heart of the Wielkopolska National Park, with a beautiful landscape and wild nature. They were able to see one of the most valuable natural oak stand in Poland in Krotoszyn Forest District and International Auction of Oak Wood Square.

During the sightseeing in the husking mill in Jarocin, they had an opportunity to see how does the seed production looks like in Poland. They were also able to compare two types of seedling production, while visiting traditional bare root nursery in Pniewy Forest District and container nursery in Jarocin.

UEF Vice-president Tomasz Markiewicz in his presentation, tried to explain Swedish guests how does the structure of Polish forestry looks like, what are the main objectives of State Forests and how does the wood market works in Poland.

It was a great experience and opportunity for both – Swedes and Poles - to find out something more about European forestry.

Another nice experience facilitated by Union of European Foresters.
