The UEF President Tomasz Markiewicz participated in a meeting of the Forest Europe Process Expert Team

On 9 December, President Tomasz Markiewicz participated in a meeting of the Forest Europe Process Expert Team, which took place in Brussels. The main information from the meeting were:
Meetings preparing basic documents (Ministerial Decision and Ministerial Declaration for the X
Ministerial Conference (2-3.06.2026 in Stockholm).
Drafts of documents have been prepared.
A consensus was reached on the structure of the document.
The discussion during the meeting largely focused on:
1. formal form of documents, and less on their content,
2. future financing of the process and contributions.

The signatory countries emphasized that a stable system and a financing rule must be developed.
It is proposed to include this system in the Ministerial Declaration.
The current system is based on the leading countries financing the whole.
The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views among foresters, as well as to establish new
relationships. The President met with the Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation, Mr. Vasyl Mashuk.
The conversation concerned the situation of foresters and forestry in Ukraine, as well as the
accession of the organization of foresters from Ukraine to the UEF.
