The Civil Dialogue Group on Forestry and Cork met on 14.1.2022 online for the originally foreseen for the end of 2021 second meeting of the group in 2021.
The main topics of discussions was the implementation of the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. A proposal for a Regulation on the making available on the Union market as well as export from the Union of certain commodities and products associeted with deforestation and forest degradation were discussed.
EC gave information about the Governance within the EU Forest Strategy for 2030, Sustainable Finance (Forestry and Biodiversity), the Bioeconomy progress report and the EU Soil Strategy for 2030.
UEF participated in this interesting meeting as a regular member of the CDG.
From UEF side it would be very helpful if the stakeholders representing the Forest Sector in this group would get in future meetings the chance to be heard earlier and introduce there professional knowledge in advance in the preparations of decisions, instead of being informed afterwords.
