Joint statement of the European Forest-based Sector to the 10th Ministerial Conference - Stockholm
Saturday, May 30 , 2026
404
Sustainably and actively managed forests play a vital role in supporting Europe’s climate, biodiversity, economic, and social objectives. For more than three decades, the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) framework developed through the Forest Europe process has guided responsible forest stewardship, ensuring the long-term health, resilience, and multifunctionality of Europe’s forests.
As forests face increasing climate-related challenges, the Union of European Foresters, together with the other stakeholders from the European forest-based sector reaffirm the importance of strengthening Forest Europe as the leading platform for forest policy cooperation. By our Joint Statement we express strong support for the upcoming 10th Forest Europe Ministerial Conference and the adoption of the Stockholm Ministerial Declaration, highlighting the essential role of sustainable forest management and renewable forest resources in achieving Europe’s climate, biodiversity, and bioeconomy goals.
The whole text of the Joint Statement is available below.
