The Presentation made by the “new housing sector” showed how the export of the European sawnwood to USA, and the roundwood to China had forced building constructers to look for substitute materials, as wood supply is uncertain and ongoing projects can´t wait.
NGO’s from wood sector wanted commission to react but had no proposals how to do it.
Long term worries for wood supply from EOS also concerning the new EU Forest Strategy, were also mentioned by EUSTAFOR.
