FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary and Ordinary Ministerial Conferences in Madrid October 2015
Monday, October 05 , 2015 5560
The Oslo Ministerial Mandate adopted by the FOREST EUROPE signatories in 2011 established an intergovernmental negotiating committee (INC) for a Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe. According to the mandate the committee shall present its work to a FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary Ministerial Conference for its consideration and possible adoption.
The FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary Ministerial Conference will be held back-to-back with the 7th FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference in the week from 19 to 23 of October 2015 in Madrid, Spain.
The 7th FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference will take place on 20-21 October 2015 and the Extraordinary Ministerial Conference will be held in the afternoon of 21 October.
The ministers responsible for forests from the signatories of FOREST EUROPE (46 countries plus the European Union), as well as the ministers of the countries and the heads of the organizations that are observers to the process, are expected to take part in the Conferences. These high level meetings will serve to reinforce political cooperation in the pan-European region in the sustainable management of its forests. Ministerial commitments at the Conferences will contribute to develop further coherent formulation and implementation of forest policy in all Europe, and a coherent approach to the continent’s forests and forest sector.
UEF will attend these meeting and will be represented by Tomasz Markiewicz, vice President.
UEF will present its contribution during the round table meetings during the conferences.
More information soon after the meetings in Madrid.
